Fly Fishing Trips: Get Your License

In these days where stress levels are increasing everyday, people are looking for a variety of ways in which they can enjoy relaxation and just distress. One of the choices that many people opt for are fly fishing trips. Getting away from it all by going fishing together with family or friends is a great bonding experience, too.

If you are planning on going out on a fly fishing trip remember that not everybody can just fish wherever you want to at random. The law requires people to have a fishing license before going fishing, and each state has their own regulations regarding this activity. Some states, for example, require you to have a conservation license as well as a fishing license. You have to get the conservation license before you can get the fishing license.

Unlike getting your driving license, you do not have to take a test in order to get your fishing license, nor do you first have to hold a learner's permit.

The FWP or Fish, Wildlife & Parks, are the authority which issues the conservation license. When you apply for one, you need to give them your social security number as well as other information, and you also need valid photo identification such as a driver's license, for security purposes.

The fishing license is valid for one season or year, and is not transferable to another person. There is a fee for the license, which is not refundable. As long as the particular state's fishing regulations allow it, your fishing license permits you to fish for any kind of fish.

There are licenses available for non-residents as well as residents, which is particularly useful if you travel to another state than the one you live in for fly fishing trips, where the regulations are different from the ones at home. To be eligible for one of these, you need to have lived at your current address for a specified time, say six months. You should also be a registered voter and a local taxpayer, have a valid driving license which was issued in that state or have a car which was bought there as well. You may also only get one of these licenses if you do not have, and have not applied for, any resident permits for fishing, hunting or trapping in any other country or state

However, you can still go fly fishing in another state without one of these licenses, if you go fishing with someone who does live in that state.

People of any age can apply for a fishing license, and it is free of charge for children below the age of 11.

Having sorted out the paper work, all you need to do is get your tackle organized, and head off for your fly fishing trip and have some fun and relaxation!
